Some updates regarding the blog

 Hello there,

It has been a while since I last posted on this blog. Truth is, I've been very busy, some main reason include: school, school and some homework but mostly school. And also some test. Not very much things happen in school but there will be a long break during winter in approximately 2 weeks so I'll see you there. For the time being, while I wait for cool things to happen, here are some books I read and I review them so you kind of have an idea. So enjoy and sincere sorry for the lack of content

1984:

1984

What you know is what the government wants you to know. They monitored you through a tv, they watched your every move. If you did something they didn’t approved, they’d show up at your house and make you disappear. After that, it would seem like you never existed. The government will be always watching and there is nothing you can do about it. 1984 is George Orwell’s future prediction of a dystopian society where the government control what you do, think, talk about, and they also control your knowledge of the outside world. And the most important thing of all, you can’t trust anyone you met.

Very long book. It is worth noting that this book was written in 1949 so it would be another 35 years until the very first readers of the book figure out if this book is correct. The description of Big Brother vaguely resembles the picture of Joseph Stalin in my mind and it make sense when this book is actually an anti-communist book. Cool book, final rating: 10/10.

Animal Farm:

Animal Farm

In a society, or in this case, a farm, where everyone, or animals, is the same, someone will take advantages of it. That was exactly what happened in Animal Farm. They rebelled against humans with hopes for a better situation than they were going through and ultimately failed because the rebellion was betrayed and fooled by members that visioned the Farm differently. In the end, everyone’s hope for a better farm was brought down because their members adopted the one thing they swore to destroy, tyranny.

Another lesson you can learn from the book is “If you have a good speaking and persuading skills, you can fool everyone.” Another thing is about Boxer the horse, he was unconcerned about his own health and he is pretty dumb. Also, this book was pretty short. Final rating: 10/10

I am going in Alphabetical order so it will be in Alphabetical order.

Death at Harbourview Cafe

Jim Ling is a Chinese man who went to start a new life in Newfoundland in 1931. After some attempts at starting a business, he went to the town of Botwood and started a Cafe. Then in 1940, his wife died, it was devastating news for Jim, then his son died for refusing to join the revolution over in China. Jim still decides to fulfil his mission to return to China to help other family members with their struggles. But the immigration place denied his access because he had 10 thousand dollars with him and he took out a knife a cut himself across the neck. After all that, Jim return to work on the Cafe for several more years and grew more popular. Jim was still mourning the lost of his family so he decided to adopt a son in China. Ken was to come to Botwood in 1956 and help with Jim’s Cafe. But father and son hated each other. After Ken came, Jim mental health took a steep decline. And one time after an incident at the cafe, where Ken had a huge fight with a German sailor, Jim was at his breaking point when the day after, Ken threw a pan with boiling fat at the same sailor when he entered the shop. This caused some trouble with the authorities and Jim was revoked of his food selling license. He closed the shop and did not once make any sign the next 4 days. After Hearsay Canning (waitress) report the unusual the RCMP, they investigated. It would soon turn into the worst night and day of Botwood history as the Cafe burned down, 3 men died and 2 fatally wounded.

Very good book, highly recommended and I really like this book. Final rating: 10/10.

Fahrenheit 451:

Fahrenheit 451

This book is about a world where books are banned and illegalize by the government, a world where Firemen locate and burn books and house instead of extinguish them. Guy Montag was in the middle of it all. He was a Fireman and with his team, located and burn books. He watched an old woman burn a whole building including herself and Guy started to rethink his entire as a Fireman. He met with Faber, an English professor, and force him to understanding the book. With an imminent war in sight, he knew the key to peace was knowledges that lie within books. After finding out how ignorant his wife and her friends was, enraged, he read them a poem. His wife tried committing suicide. Guy then met with other exiled book lovers in the countryside and they taught him the philosophy of the exiles. As he’s learning, a bomber flew over the city and dropped a nuclear bomb and killed everyone within the city. The exiles and Guy survived and the next day, they headed back to the city to rebuild a new civilization.

A very good book. Never expected it to go as far as an actual war happening. Another thing to consider is that the plane dropped a nuke and the radiation should still be there the next day so going back is not a good thing. Final rating: 9/10
