The Camp Squeah experience (Day 2)

 Hello,

We're now on our second day, our one and only full day at the camp. My cabin woke up at 7 AM. We slept longer that any of us expected to. It was freezing outside, probably 278 degree kelvin outside (5 degree Celsius, 41 degree Fahrenheit). Breakfast is served at 8:30 so anybody that wake up before that will have to find something else to do. Rules also said that you can't make any noise before 8:30. So the only sensible thing to do is go to the playground and become a monkey on the tall climbing thing rope thing. Me and some of my friends went to the "haunted" chapel and my friend Lucas decided to become a priest.

I then went to the chess board, played against my friend Atom. Though I am not good at chess, I forced him to resign because I was apparently making "accidental good move". We then have to continue our game after breakfast.

It was the average North American breakfast consisted of fried egg, sausages, peas and orange juice. Then we continued our chess game. I lost, no big surprise. Then we got to the main activities of the day and this is where it gets interesting.

My group went and did something called High Ropes. A series of tall post with ropes obstacles and challenges. Then there's this thing called the trust fall. In this version of trust fall, you are fortunately not doing a backflip hoping your friends would catch you. No, you climb on to a tall post that is approximately 0.00539957 nautical miles tall (10 meters, 30 feet), jump and (hopefully), catch a dangling thing that was designed for you to hold on to. Meanwhile, your friend on the ground are working to pull you up just in case something goes wrong. Now, 0.00539957 nautical miles may not seems much but it is very high.

The worst thing that can happen is a broken bone, no big deal

So you climb up the post, do a squat for a bit of breathing air and jump. I failed the first one because my hand slipped. Then my friend for absolutely no reason, pulled a little bit harder than they should have and I slammed into the pole. My leg got hurt but no big deal, as a compensation, I get hot chocolate. Then I tried again, this time jumping a bit farther and, finally, got it. It was a scary experience but a fun one. Then we headed for lunch. I think it was chicken and mashed potato. For an hour, I played table hockey and pool with my friend, I am not the best but not the worst.

For the next activities, we went for a hike. The scenery was very nice and all we can talk about was gun and countries. Pro tip: if you go for a hike, talk about countries, you won't get bored. It was a 45 minutes hike, we saw a mountain, the view was stunning and if someone pushed you, you have approximately 14 seconds before you reach the bottom.

After we're done of the hike, we did archery. I am exceptionally bad at archery, can't aim the bow straight, arrow always flies the wrong way and I was firing it the wrong way anyway. But our vice principle, Mr. Jones, absolutely demolished us with 2 second arrow was a bullseye. Beginner's luck are real.

After that, an hour free time to do whatever. I played even more table hockey and pool. I think it's time to mention that my friend Nhan is very good at pool and I don't even know what's going on.

We then ate dinner, which was peas and more mashed potato. No camping trip would be finished without a campfire. But camping outside at night without your flashlight at night is a bad idea, luckily I brought mine and we're safe, for now. Of course I brought my sunglasses so it would be more scary. It was almost pitch black and I would not be able to see anything if it wasn't because of my flashlight. Funny stories: I gave the flashlight to my friend and he asked "Is this a Wii remote?" We cleaned ourself up before going to bed and let just say that taking a bath at 9 pm is not a good idea. My cabinmate then decided to go to sleep early, but by early they meant 11:30 pm AGAIN. So the entire day was me getting injured repeatedly in activities and doing thing that I never do before. So see you next day.

Side notes: Literally all of my friend are piano god.

Comments

  1. Full English breakfast aka the Fry Up consists of bacon, eggs and beans. Although "bacon and eggs" also means anything that goes together well, in partnership/business, when someone means he contributes eggs, you should not join because you have to contribute bacon, meaning your life. Great piece of writing and I look forward to the next episode
