The terrible and great reason why I run long distances, the book

Image
The terrible and wonderful reason why I run long distances. This book is The Oatmeal, the author, talking about the terrible and wonderful reason why he run long distances, yeah. They aren’t totally terrible, it all goes down to him fearing that he was getting fat and wanting to do something more with his life than just sit behind a computer screen and draw comics all day. This book is more of an inspirational book; he wants to inspire other people that are going through he was going through, being fat. So he started running, a few miles the first day, a few the next and then it keeps adding up until he was able to run a marathon. It’s like metamorphosis process, from an ugly caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly and it’s a very complicated process and a very long process too. With lots of works involved and lots of time and will. You need to the will to get out of bed, the will to put yourself into some running shoes and walk out into the cold morning and start running a few miles. It ...

Five Nights at Freddy's, the book

Image
Five nights at Freddy’s. What’s not to love about it. A game where you play as a security guard working at a shift from 12 AM to 6 AM at a Pizzeria that has human size electronic stuffed animals that are entertainments for kids in the day and do “get a bit quirky at night”. What could possibly go wrong. Well, turn out a lot can go wrong. First of all, getting a bit quirky at night is an abbreviation for “they are all going to come alive to hunt you down and kill you.” and also, the second you turn your head away from the camera, something will move. So have fun. And good luck. So, how do the books hold up compare to the game? Well, it did not disappointed, in fact, I'll even say it is more entertaining to read than to play the actual game. And less scary too. Some of the stories actually had me quite scared and the one with the haunted doll waking you up in the middle of the night, man, that one is the last thing I need right now. Like, I’m already waking up in the middle of the ni...

The Battle of Dunkirk

The Battle of Dunkirk The Battle of Dunkirk, which took place from May 26 to June 4, 1940, during World War II, stands as a testament to the extraordinary evacuation operation conducted by the Allied forces. This essay explores the key events, challenges, and significance of the Battle of Dunkirk, highlighting its role as a symbol of resilience, unity, and hope in the face of adversity. After the German invasion of France in May 1940, Allied forces, comprised mainly of British, French, and Belgian troops, found themselves trapped in the coastal town of Dunkirk. Surrounded by German forces and facing imminent capture or annihilation, the situation seemed dire for the stranded soldiers. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the British Initiated Operation Dynamo, a...

The battle of Stalingrad

Image
The Battle of Stalingrad The Battle of Stalingrad, fought between August 23, 1942, and February 2, 1943, during World War II, is considered one of the most significant battles in history. It pitted the Axis powers, primarily Germany, against the Soviet Union, with the city of Stalingrad as the epicenter of the conflict. This battle and siege of the city was one of the deadliest battle in World War 2 history, over 1 million casualties on the Soviet Union side alone. The siege/battle raged for approximately five months and in those five months, there was a lot of learn on both side. For the German side, they learned the valuable lesson of to not invade the Soviet Union during the Winter, something that the French learned 130 years prior to the battle. But despite the Soviet Union emerging as victorious, was the 1.2 million death worth the trade? Was Stalin's order to hold the city using all forces available necessary to win the battle? And what about the decision of not letting the...

The Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair experience

Image
The Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair Hello again. So recently, I got into the Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair or the GVRSF. I trust that you know where Vancouver is located and what a science fair is. If not, then there’s a reason. Anyhow, the whole thing was 3 days long and there was a lot of talking as you might expect. But we need to run that back, back 6 weeks ago when the science fair at my school happened. As a final test/exam in science, we need to make a project based on a question we came up with. I was partnered with my friend, Ethan, and together we come up a question. The requirement is that the question has to be answered using scientific research and it has to be related to science. So we got to work. The first part is to think of a question. I know that there are websites that give great suggestions for topics to do science fair on but I’ll say that 95% of those ideas are used at least once before. Also we wanted something original, a question th...

bird

Bird: Bird families and bird Bird. Feathered flying thing that can varies in size, shape, form and sound. Mainly, bird is generally classified as having a beak, 2 wings and feathers, and feet. Anything else to add on to it like teeth, hands, tails, giant wings, horns, scales, or spikes, that’s not a bird, that’s a dragon. Birds are closer to dinosaurs than plastic dinosaurs would ever get which really says something about evolutions and its tendencies to evolves things into crabs – the term is carcinisation and apparently is not an actual word in the English dictionary - but I can’t think of anything to say about that right now so have a picture of a crab. Anyway, have you ever look at a bird and wonder what kind of bird it is. I don’t, because most of the birds I saw are either crows, ducks or goose. Sometimes I see a seagull and then that’s it. Then I go home and read this book only to realized that those goose aren’t goose. I still don’t remember what they even are. Anyway, if y...
