Murder at camp Delta
Murder at Camp Delta
2006. Sergeant Joseph Hickman
is on his flight to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The U.S has set up a detention camp
there to detained people and has been in operation since January 2002. Now,
Sergeant Hickman is planned to be deployed here for roughly a year working as
Security Guard. At first, everything seems normal. Besides the constant
shouting from the detainees and the guards, not to mention that this place has
been focus regarding Human’s Rights in 2003 because of Detainees going on
Hunger Strike. Other than that, everything’s fine. Not for long. Sergeant
Hickman was patrolling with his Squad when they decided that the heat and the
sunlight are unbearable and went off-course their usual path to find some
shades. They did find some shades and something else too. A building that isn’t
presented anywhere on the official map of the entire camp. Well, that’s
strange, why would the higher ranking hide something like this from them. He
tried not to think about it other than just an abandon one but something odd
about it seems to raise even more questions. Questions build up more and more
and finally, on the night of June 9 2006, a white van exited the camp and
headed off to where Sergeant Hickman knows the building is. A few hours later
at midnight, the white van returned and headed straight to the clinic. A few
hours later, reports of 3 dead detainees spread all over the camp. The 3
detainees were reported to have, supposedly, committed suicide but something
about that felt wrong to Sergeant Hickman and that begins his search for the
truth about this camp, and the secret behind the secret operation in the
mysterious building.
Great book, the chapters are short, the storytelling is good, and my understanding of Guantanamo detention camp tripled and my knowledge of how horrible human can be expanded. This is a certified 9/10 books, 5 for storytelling, 3 for CIA involvement and 1 for Subway because there’s only 1 Subway on the island.
